Request account and data deletion

A request here starts the deletion. Your account is deactivated straight away and permanently deleted 30 days later; the request is recorded and carried out as a tracked workflow. Questions, and anything this page does not answer, go to privacy@riluno.org.

Anyone can create an account — here with an email address and a password, or in the Riluno app by signing in with Apple or Google. This notice previously said Riluno was not accepting new accounts, which stopped being true when sign-up opened and stayed on the page after it did.

What deletion covers

When a deletion request completes, Riluno removes:

your account and profile
your uploaded media, including copies held by media providers
derived assets such as thumbnails and transcoded renditions
cached copies and any search or feed entries
your interaction data, under the approved measurement plan

Backup copies are made unavailable in normal operation and expire on the approved backup schedule.

How long it takes

Deletion happens in two stages. The moment you ask, your account is deactivated: you are signed out everywhere, and your videos and channels stop being shown to anybody. Nothing is erased yet.

30 days later — never more than one calendar month — everything listed above is permanently erased, and the page confirming your request names that date. Until then you can change your mind by signing in: that cancels the deletion and brings your videos and channels back. After it, nothing can be restored.

Riluno must answer a request within one month, and may extend that by two further months for a complex request, telling you within the first month if it does. That deadline is Article 12(3) of the GDPR and applies regardless of what Riluno decides internally.

Deletion runs as a tracked workflow across every system holding a copy, and you can inspect its progress. Completion is reported only when every step has actually finished, and a step that fails is retried rather than skipped — so a provider being briefly unavailable delays an erasure instead of losing it.

Backup copies are the exception, and it is worth being exact rather than leaving it inside the list above. A backup cannot be selectively edited — that is what makes it a backup, and rewriting history inside one would corrupt the restore it exists for. They are not used in normal operation and expire on the backup schedule.

Lawful exceptions

A specific deletion step will be suspendable only under a recorded legal authority. Where that happens you will be told that something was retained, rather than the data being kept silently.

Riluno does not tell you which step, and does not confirm for any individual account whether a particular authority applies. Naming the step would identify the authority behind it, and for some authorities that disclosure is itself prohibited. The same answer is given to everyone for that reason, not to be evasive.

If you pay for Riluno

A subscription is bought from Apple or Google, not from Riluno, and it renews on their clock. Deleting your account here removes the record of what you paid for; it cannot stop a payment Riluno never takes.

Where Riluno can stop it — Google Play allows that — it does, before anything is deleted, and tells you it has. Where it cannot, it says which store to cancel at and lets you delete your account either way.

Stopping a subscription stops the next payment. It does not end the period you have already paid for — that runs to its end at the store — and it is not a refund.
